Oatmeal Cookies

For an Oatmeal cookie that’s really good
Beat that margarine and beat it good
Add one cup sugar to make it right
Then add brown sugar to the white

Get your egg whites and dump them in
If it’s not fluffy then it’s a sin
Then add flower, baking soda
Cinnamon and nutmeg quota

Stir in raisins oatmeal and vanilla
Remember you're baking for your fella
Preheat the oven, make it 350
A nice warm oven is really nifty

Roll a teaspoon full into a ball
Plop it on a baking sheet, that’s not all
Dip a glass in margarine
Sugar it well and push it in

Ten minutes baking, that will do
Cookies for everyone and for you.

Another masterpiece. YOu should write a whole cookbook. No one could capture it as well. What a treasure. (I want a copy when you do).

    So delicious...

Only a great poet could take a recipe and make the words as hot as an oven.

This is just a great poem, I could just melt way and feel like a warm cookie ready to be devoured and eaten.

With a great big smile on my face.

    Keep writing.

    You are So delicious...

    Mel

Yeah, a poetic cook book cool idea! I have a very humerous recipe poem, let me get it...

    ROASTY BEASTY TROUBLE LEASTY

So eezy even my sister Hester
(who's also my cuzin) kin make it.

But iffen they hadna whacked off
the male plumin when she was a nipper
(she was born with two sets a plumin'
1 fer a fella an' anuther fer a gal),

anyways, iffen they hadna whacked off the male plumin
when she was a nipper, she wudna ever lernt it
cuz menfolk er jus' too lazy ta make sumpin 'sides a samich,
    ya no?

One Hunk a' meat sum onions
    sum carrots sum water
sum tatters sum lipton's dry onion soup mix

    OPTIONALs
    sum tamaters sum bell peppers
    sum green beans sum mushrooms

Now iffen ya got all the time in the world,
and the chillen er all out tha house,
and that nose pickin ass scratchin'
couch cushun ya call a husband
is out yonder in the field.
And thar ain't no body hankering
    fur vittals they gotta have RITE NOW;
The best way to cook up a hunk a meat
    is nice n slow.

Say did ya ever hear of a bevurge called
a Slo Gin Screw Up Aginst The Wall?

Never mind, that ain't got nuthin to do with this.

    Slow is like this,
ya puts about an inch an a haf uh watur
in the bottom uh yur roaster
slap that hunk a flesh in thar fat side up
in a oven 'bout 350 degrees,
    an sprinkle it all over
with a pkg. of the lipton's onion soup mix,
and jus' let it alone whilst yur fixin yur veggies.

Best to leev yur taters in big hunks
when yur slow cookin'n don use so much watur
that they don stick about haf out tha water in the roaster.

Any ways once ya get the veggies ready
    (cut the onions lik wedges)
an I ain't talkin bout the optionals,
if yer usin those ya put them in
'bout haf an hour 'fore the roast is dun.

But the taters an onions and carrots
ya just pile em all 'round that thar hunk a meat
sprinkle anuther pkg of tha lipton's on
em and let em cook the hole time.

    Now when yer slow cookin
ya kin let it jus sit in thar 2, 3, 4 hours,
just keep about a inch an a haf a water
in thar even if ya gotta add more.

Now iffen ya got a passell a folks
    hankerin' fer vittals so bad
yer in danger a gettin yer leg knawed off,
ya mite wanna speed it up a bit.

So crank that 'ol oven up anuther hunnerd degrees,
cut yer veggies up smaller an pile in more watur,
then just cut into that thar hunk a flesh ever so often
an as soon as it stops bleedin
    slap it on tha table!

This was fun I once wrote a recipe poem for contest and I loved it This was written light-heartedly and flows so well, quite melodic as it bounces jovially along. People across AP will be making cookies now, maybe even myself For I have done it before and savoured the most delicate sponge cake I love this, and I love you, always. Laura

This poem is cute. I like how you made it rhyme and your cookies sound delicious. It's not everyday when I read a poem about food, especially treats like oatmeal cookies. Not only is this like an ordinary poem. It's like a how-to. This wasan excellent write Good job.
