Befriended by this violent world
of twisted animosity.
A blackened coat with many scars
tells a morbid history.
Blood stained hooves are set ablaze,
legs are lined with flexing muscle,
pounding dust into the ground,
with hatred for humanity.
Abused and beaten, starved and worn,
slashing at his battered spirit.
Majestic stallion fueled by hate,
becomes a mighty, frothing beast.
Wings of fire, eye's of steel,
veins of ice and razor fangs,
blackened coat of iron thorns,
murder echoes through his brain.
Thunder rolls beneath his hooves,
mane is lashing at the sky,
demonic cries inject his soul,
voices prance amongst the storm.
Run away, there's no escape,
skulls are crushed beneath his weight,
brains are splattered, blood and gore,
ribs are punctured by this fate.
Cracking bones entwine with screams,
abused and beaten to the end.
Fangs are ripping flesh from bone,
A mighty stallion now re-born.

Amazing! I could picture this so well....the imagery was wonderful. I agree with you, I wish that *would* happen to animal abusers, and so much more. It reminded me of the book Black Beauty, which was originally written to protest the treatment of horses in England.

yeah.....
i love that book.
I actually have two dogs that were abused that we have rescued. They are actually my dogs.....
Zephyr (he's german shepherd/husky/wolf) was abused before we got him. He became a WONDERFUL dog. we got him when he was a year old, now he's attached at my hip and has seperation anxiety when i leave him. lol
Our other rescue case was Roxy, our border collie/beagle mix. She was actually a wild dog, very little human contact and when there WAS human contact, she was kicked, beaten, etc. We think someone wiht a hood beat her, but anyway....when we first brought her home, she buried herself in a corner and wouldn't even look at us. Now she runs, plays and though she is still mortified of people, she is also attached at the hip to me. She had never seen a house before, so it was pretty wierd when we brought her in.
Our third dog is Bruno, he's actually a pitbull and he's the only dog we have that has NOT been abused. We got him when he was a tiny, tiny puppy, about the size of a shoe. He's not even a year old yet, so he's had the best life out of all of our dogs. lol.
I take these three with me everywhere
I'M SO PROUD OF THEM! I REALLY ARE! THEY ARE SUCH BIG BABIES, i just don't understand animal abuse, i can't seem to wrap my mind around it i guess -

aww.....they sound like wonderful dogs. Once I graduate high school and college I want to start a retirement-like place for abused horses. Or possibly adopt from www.equineadoption.com or the BLM. Did you hear that the government said they had to agree to put down over half the horses deemed inadoptable in order for their program to continue? I was unbelievably angry when I found out.

Excellent. An "eye for an eye" vengence and redmeption is often a good thing, even if it is just to fantasize about it. It is very cathartic.

wow! I love horses and i love the imagery in this poem! im also against animal abuse and u can really help those animals if you want by going to thepetitionsite.com and signing some petitions. just a thought i do it all the time.

interesting. . .did you read my Nightmare (The Creeper) poem? I thought of this, though in that poem the horse is evil and not as yours, like a phoenix risen from the ashes trampling with vengeance. Anyway, this was an exciting vivid read with a powerful story behind it. Congratulations on another piece well done!
