I'm not going to remove it, but I'm not going to trophy it either. I ask for these rules 1) for complete equality 2) because seeing a crappy pink sunset background can only ever detract from a poem, it never adds anything 3) it's to stop gold members gaining any advantage.
You'd have been quite welcome to do with the poem what you will after the closure of your contest. You deliberate finger-flicking, however banal, means I'm not considering this for points. That's all.
That said, I quite like the piece and the sentiment. However, I'd lose the last line. Your piece should be about elucidating this end conclusion, I don't think you should present it there in writing at the end.
If this was all rule complient you'd be in with a shou of the bronze, as it is I may just HM you, depending how I feel after completing judging. -
feel the chains yet? yes, and have done so for too long. Nationalism can be looked on in different aspects. I believe that nationalism for my country, free from the chains of foreign government will set us free. free to do as we chose, free to run our own government, regardless of whichever party political group it comes from, well, depends on some I suppose.
But the Freedom to put our country on the world map as a strong independant Nation, standing on our own feet, financing our own lifestyles, education, health, businesses and everything else that follows suit, will show that Nationalism can work and work well if left alone to do so.
I for one, will stand strong and proud and fly the flag of Freedom, to be a nation again, free..

some controversy!!!! I like it though!!! I don't believe any one group or government can keep us free. You are right we as the individuals have to stand united and demand our freedom and be ready to fight for it if the need be. Some rely on the government to raise their kids, support them and then wonder why they turn out the way they have......Oh well that's another topic....{Smile} But you have done a nice job writing this alot of truth written here!!!!Thanks for sharing!!!~~Toni~~

My question what do governments do to instill national pride .... a free society like a free lunch just dont happen in this world. Like those teachers who give detentions for lack of pride in school yet while they demand respect they dont give it and like governments respect is earnt
just because they govern does not automatically mean they deserve respect past good manners.... passing back the mic and stepping off the soapbox.
