"He thinks best alone"
I know you said you write of nature, but I clicked on 'return the favour' and arrived here. How appropriate since I had been reading a contest entry of yours about our care or rather failure to care for this earth.
I should read more of Riverside Louis as I see it to be a series. The personification I understand as I tend to think of things in that way, even things less responsive such as stones.
"headed for anywhere but here"
"He slides to shore and wonders"
" he sends out slobbery call... ancestors who seem not to hear"
"chisels a new way to town"
All these and others I have seen and watched. I appreciate the depth of connectiveness you show in your write. From time to time I have read your work. Time I tell you how much I admire your ability to teach through story. Jadon
This is an actual river you know or a teaching tool?

I love this river personified. Beautiful. I particularly liked
'but quite pensive, when moon
shudders in night breeze
skipping across the lake'
I would have changed a few line breaks here and there, but otherwise I love this. Thank you for entering. -

Youa re right, of course...and I have fixed them. ty

"Riverside Louis falls asleep,
open-mouthed hopes seeping off his chin
into sand that that will hold his curl until morning
when he gathers his wits and chisels
a new way to town."
Beautiful, my Friend. I think these poems should be in a book, for sure. You are a born storyteller, my Sister. Good luck in the contest, Sweetie.
