Fingers run furrows through the black earth
tangle with roots, be-spell healing.
Sparkles with foam tossed light
bright blossoming drops drip
across my ramparts calling,
singing songs of green on my gray rocks.
In the shadow of the night
her breath, crickets, sails billow
my journey through dreams safe.
She anchors my heart, lights the spirits return.
As a pair, so strong. We forget
blindfold ourselves, call to hear the other answer.
Relaxed in a fold of sunlight
we laugh at our foolishness.

In the shadow of the night

all is as it should be, love is a wonderful thing that laughs at age and finds only wonder in the changes age brings, love shall trace each wrinkle as it apears with a tender finger and a smile

"singing songs of green on my gray rocks" I always thought if love were a color, it would be green! The color of so many living things in sunlight. And where would any of us be if we could not laugh at our foolishness, knowing the wisdom beneath it heals the heart and forgives the harshness of gray rocks with a little green to cushion the spirit.

Life is always more and green is a wonderful color for it. Love is the water of life, joy the energy that makes it all go 'round. If we do not accept and become amused about our frailties then we are doomed. In fewer words, I agreee with all you said.
Thanks. I am delighted by you, by life by just about everything.
Love, Tom B.

So Beautiful
Good morning Tom, You have captured what the essence of true love is. Loving as you give and take equally. Forgiving and forgetting and moving on with the joys and laughters of loving each other.
You have penned a lovely poem about your love for your wife. Thank you for sharing. Take care. Blessings to both of you.

Sandy

We are so human. We have a hard time celebrating each other.
I am just fortunate that I have someone who loves me, trusts me and believes in me. We are constantly growing and changing so it is always an adventure in living being married to one another. yet this June 20th it will be fifteen years. I could not of spent them any better.
Love, Tom B.

Sometimes we take each other for granted, but in this what you may not say you notice in every little nuance that she is. It is a gentle breath she blows across you and you accept it with all the radiance she is. Love, C

We are both human and we love each other. We get lost in our concerns, worried by our fears, threatened by the world that we have no control over, but we are here for each other. We argue, yes we do. Still we deal and move on. But best of all is the fact that we still find time to be silly and share joy. Thanks for all your kind words. Love, Tom B.

I finally picked up Neruda again. It is all due to your influence
What can I say, I was still full of energy after writing the poem to you and this one sung so loud and demanded I let it fill my pages. Glad you can enjoy the sweet music it strums for my heart.

you do know me indeed

I did LOVE it. To delight in each others silliness or to be silly together , to laugh so hard that you almost we-wee your panties....those are the moments that make us accept the mondane of everyday life. I do believe that you are lucky-but then so is she and what is even more beautiful , I think the both of you know it
ermmm....and now do tel more about that "blindfolding"

much love and best wishes in the contest,
renie

'As a pair, so strong. We forget

As a pair we laugh at our foolish selves, carefree in love. Isn't that the way its supposed to be~ ~Sie

We take each other for granted now and then and need to remember how much we mean to each other. Love is not always carefree. Sometimes it is hard work for she and me.
Still we can delight every now and again at the ways we are silly. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and love.
Love, Tom B.

This piece is full of metaphors and imagery connected to the shallow meaning if you don't think deeply into a metaphorical standpoint. There is a strong bond shown between your wife and you, as your relationship grows, and the poem follows along with the growing. Love is the greatest gift of life and I am glad that you have accepted it's existence, as well as helped it live on! Keep up the great work and good luck in the contest! Closing your eyes for this write must have created a beautifully romantic scene!

Thanks. Most of life is either superfical or resplendent with discovery and meaning. Depends how deep you want to swim into the depths of your own life. Love is a way of being. Love, Tom B.

Something inspired by Neruda's One hundred love sonnets. I should be so diligent. Still it was fun to write. I am a lucky man. Thanks for sharing the joy you received.

Like the alliteration in these lines - flow and delightful visuals one gets when reading this. That comfortable feeling one gets when living with someone for so long is easy to see here- Liked she anchors my heart; lights the spirit return, and that last line too. Feeling pretty good about this I would think - realtionship and poetry.

You know how much I love my words to sing and sibilance and assonace are part of the music. This was inspired by Neruda's one hundred love poems all written to his wife Matilda. I can but aspire to be so inspired and create such beauty. Love, Tom B.
