softly through the midnight trees
lavender waters flow
lilac mists that seem to tease
in a world where time is slow
feel the colored waters touch
whitewashed in their prime
sweetened now with so much
of what is there sublime
sparkling light shining through
into the deepest night
smiling at us, as if we knew
that this was a lavender delight
sunlight sprayed on innocence
amid this timeless world
life hanging in the balance
into the future hurled
