Those two months were filled with nothing more than unbridled
passion, teasing, and upsets
Oh, Cruel summer
your heat makes me ill
and the days down at your cool lakes
remind me of nothing more than
skin against skin
Cruel summer I saw fireworks
on other days besides the fourth of july
who knew that come September they'd disappear?
Our fingers laced so beautifully
as we walked in those fields of dried out wheat
and your eyes matched the sky
((cloudless))
with no shame
We laughed at petty things
of foolish promises
and simple dreams
I never told you this
but that summer you became my dream.
Cruel summer I saw fireworks
on other days besides the fourth of july
who knew that come September they'd disappear?
Oh, Cruel summer....
you haunt me with those memories

this is a sad write. Summer time romances that often come to an end. You have written of them perfectly. Now you need to be able to look back on them with a fond rememberance..one of a love that swept you away..gave you peace and comfort. Provided you with a guide of what it is your are looking for and not. WEll done..best of luck in the contest.

interesting take on this. Memories can be a great thing, but they can also bring sorrow of lost times. Thanks for the entry.
