Into the soul of me

Laying there, in thickest woods
quite stillness tickles hearts
Watching fawn, spirits high
as dayflies land so softly by

Dawn springs and offers light
mother, not too far away
Baby spots, to hide his bed
still, he nods his little head

Delighted in, dayflies dance
fluttering the brush and grass
Fawn lay still as oaken moss
knowing paths he dare not cross

All of nature lay in wait
wishing stars to fall with leaves
Covers for the babes of woods
doing all they know they should

Sharing heartbeats, intertwined
weaving words in nature’s gaze
Soft and lucid eyes that see
right into the soul of me
