Dreams

I am a dream, and yet, I am real
I wonder if life ever truly ends
I hear life’s laughter on the wings of birds who are free
I see every tear reflected in the rain when it falls around me.
I want to find my true love before the sun sets

I pretend the world around me is understanding and I am carefree
I touch the stars in hopes I’ll capture their light
I worry I will fade and no one will see me to remember
I cry with my heart, dismembered

I am a dream, and yet, I am real
I understand not everyone gets a happy ending
I say make your life the best thing you can
I dream of far away worlds and distant times
I try to stay grounded firmly in reality and still keep my dreams
I hope one day to be brave enough simply to be
