Mid-May 07

Mid-May 07. For any who may be interested, 'Mid-May' 2006 is typed  beneath this one.

Growing green corn has now ears well-formed quite;
With yellow streaks, do some stems start to test;
True, these are a few, most show not so light;
Those still hold to their laurel hue as best.
Incredible, but maple new seeds has;
Tight-winged to propel them the air through fast;
To twirl, in the wind, without razzmatazz;
When tree, its hopeful prodigy, does cast.
Small young leaves, weaves holly, sans the sharp thorn;
One day may they firm hard and prickly be;
When the season has somewhat further worn,
And risen warmth to sweltering degree.
Scarcely is mid-May its infancy in,
But mature potentials starting to win.

May is the month for apple blossoms known
And apple trees are clad with pink and white.
Crops grow high green, in fields where they were sown,
To be transmuted soon to golden bright.
May's the month of domestic lilac too;
Through streets, parks and garden, can this be seen.
Cream, light and deep purple, with homely blue;
Ling'ring lilacs, near fence and walls, convene.
Hawthorn, or May flower, can we neglect?
Sharp thorns, quite keen, but with blooms that are there.
Like hawks, sprightly plumed, are its eyes collect.
Delicate scent, with visage, passing fair.
Mid-May's delights like we to rhyme about,
When nature shows such varied sights without.
