Angelic Chariot

Teamed professionals armed

with medical science,

perform heroic measure to battle

the blow casted by the reaper's scythe,

marking death's impending arrival.

Angelic presence observes

fragile vessel's fight to exist beneath

bruised flesh and broken bones inflicted

by parental brutality of patience lost

to constant colicky cries.

With eyes taped closed,

infantile chest fills

with artificial breathes

as body lays motionless, wrapped

in bandages stained pink.

Silent sobs reverberate

from white diamonds' inhabitation

of Lumbard unit's cartooned walls

as little hands cling tightly

to life's strands slipping away.

Feather-winged cradle of unconditional love,

-a personalized chariot-

lies in wait of monitor's last blip

to signify a cherub's escape

from this jaded cocoon rotting in reality.

Author notes

Written for FizzyPop Challenge
alternative assignment given was to write
a piece that was exactly 25 lines in length,
had to coincide with provided picture and
must include the names of three (3) women's perfumes,
men's cologne or a combination of the two.

And yes, I know the picture may seem not to fit;
however when I looked at the picture I saw children.
And after spending a week in the children's ward at the
hospital with my daughter this is what came to me in
combination of that picture and what I witnessed on a
spiritual level most may not understand.

Those perfumes included are:

White Diamonds by Liz Taylor
Fragile by Jean Paul Gaultier
Escape by Calvin Klein

note*
white diamonds was used as a metaphor
for infant spirits.

Lumbard Unit refers to the name given to the pediatric ward at the hospital I was at.

Wow pure brilliance mum, just amazing I have no words. I'm rendered speechless. This piece is just I don't know so hard to comment on because there is so much covered and it's just so deep to put words too. Well for me anyways, I'm guessing alot of people won't really understand it, you have to really feel what you're reading and can't miss a word.
    Well done mum,
    Love you much

A cold fist to the gut

This moved me most greatly. Children should never be harmed. It makes me sick - your write is filled with controlled rage and compassion. Very well done, poetic moon!
