ripping apart at the seems

we are
ripping apart at the seems
that held us steady and loved
we are
falling down to the world
far below that we abandoned
for the sake of something more real
(and it was,
just not in the way you hoped)
we are
left reeling through sweet memories
you say you’ll cherish, but why
cherish the memory of something
that is not gone?
we are
befuddled by swarms of questions
we cannot ask and cannot answer
in any way that makes any kind of sense
or satisfies the gnawing hungry gaps
we left each other grappling with
we are
walking down paths that
we hope will lead to ourselves and our
callings, but don’t you see
our paths cross over and over
and merge again just a little further on?
we are
trying to keep our insides in
while the seems are ripping and
we are
breaking away

(but just for now, ok?
when you're ready
i'll sew you up and back
into me ever so gently)

For a young poet ,you surly have your feet planted firmly into the heart and soul of feelings ,and  in the depth of emotions of a seasoned poet..
You have painted a bittersweet portrait here of love and hope..

    The ending is simply outstanding..
Very nice work, and a treat to read..
    Thank you for sharing..
    Peace

I love that cute and delicate touch of dear optimism you ended this poem with. A very warming assurance that would melt the heart of any lover who read of such sentiments from their mate. Left me with a beautiful feeling.
