Light'n Candles

Oh I’m just light’n candles -

50 to be precise

There’s cake somewhere below them

Oh how those flames entice!


They glow both or’nge and yellow

and shout Happy Birthday

The cake’s now candle coated-

We’ll eat it any way!


Yes, it’s now Samplette’s birthday

But her cake’s set aglow

By flame of little candles-

She’s FIFTY donchaknow?

OK well... Sam called me just before I got into the tub... last thing she said was... light a candle and relax... so SHE'S where I got the idea for this poem...

    Hmmm...so we have to think of age in terms of candle-power! LOL!

    Makes me aware and ready of my 50th in August. (Yeah-I mentioned that on purpose). I figger if Moses can proclaim when he turned 120, I can do the same being 70 years younger.

    Awesomely funny write, sis! That is, not so bad for someone so doggone young.

    I say we need to call the fire dept and report a fire at her house-it's dangerous having THAT MANY candles lit-hope she had a fire extinguisher nearby.
    This was pretty cute! Thank you for your entry~I know she'll love this. (Just remember, even though she may call you, she still loves me best )

    It is nice we have the chance to connect through AP in ways that are so comforting to one another. My cake is headed the same direction, if it was a ship, it would sink or capsize. A nice write for the right moment. RC

    haha, my girlfriend is having a birthday today, I'm thinking it's safer to light the candles outside in the fire pit. Fun poem Melissa, and I hope she has a great day.

        the problem when you get to be this age...by the time you get the last few lit, the first ones have burned down to nothing!! As for my girlfriend, I've got 3 weeks to get in my jabs, then it's my birthday! lol

    We don;t use little candles anymore

    When you get as old as me and Samplette are, you just set a blow torch on the cake, LOL!
