Her only crime was being in love,
for this she was cast into hell.
Never would she give in to society's bigotry,
in this prison she prefers to dwell.
Some say she is a martyr or saint,
both she fervently denies.
She believes love comes from God,
her faith and beliefs she won't compromise.
She has risen above society's injustices,
standing taller than they ever could.
Narrow mindedness and ignorant prejudices,
one day must be overcome by what's good.
Because of their indoctrinated opinions,
themselves they have actually doomed.
Self-righteousness is a ghastly sin,
their very souls are being consumed.
She feels strongly for their fate,
even after imprisoning her this way.
Her tears of compassion erupts frequently,
and for their transgressions she does pray.
What they have of yet to understand,
because they are all blinded by deceit,
is that love is the greatest gift of all,
and is what it takes to make life complete.

What a wonderful piece of uplifting poetry, this shows how love and peace in your heart can be the thing that makes you go on in the face of all the injustices we see in the world. A delight to read. Love, C

BEAUTIFUL!
When one finds the true meaning of love and its beauty then they find their hearts fulfilled.

This is a really powerful piece with a strong message, love is universal and no one has a right to dictate who we can or can't love. I don't understand why people get up in arms about same sex partnerships, a body doesn't mean anything, we all have hearts and should love who we want.
God's love is universal and he gave us all free choice, let God do the judging not mankind. Best of luck in the contest.
