The Wisps of Love

Missing image
Even when the heart
has given up and did stop
a soul's love shall not part
stroking with feelings like some ghostly mop.

One last brush moment to say I care
though we can only feel them
by a chill in the air,
or an image familiar that does not offend.

Sacred ties bind our spirits to another
sometimes that energy is still felt
when coming from one who cared for us like a mother
warming our thoughts, making our sorrow melt.

We might react at first with ice upon the spine
fearing this phantom presence who face we know
that we sense was once someone cherished in our mind
but now has gone passed where all life can go.

Yet, what better form could they ever say
good bye to one they will miss so much
than by some parting hug in this special way
letting us be aware life dwells beyond the grave's touch.

I know this from my own moment of wisp
when my mother's ghost appeared after her last breath
just a second of saying so long by a haunting kiss
giving me comforting about life after death.

Author notes

Uncle Bud

Can't speak for anyone else, but the reference to my mother's ghost actually happen to me.

I also live next to a cemetery and ghosts experiences are quite common at my house.

    Breath taking!

Thank you so much for sharing!

I have a ghost in my home actually, not a full image person ghost, he/she always walks up to me on my right side, mainly in kitchen area or laundry room, my cat has actually seen it at same time as I, which comforts me knowing I am still sane.
I dont think its a bad spirit/ghost, I just think its lonely, its funny cuz usually it is really active if my youngest daughter is not in the house.

You just happen to have a contest on something I personally have experienced. Sounds like your ghost is a former occupant. But apparently not hostle, so that is great. Thank you for the wonderful comment.

Awww sweetie, this very much so touched my heart!
Reminded me somewhat of when my Dad passed away and I felt his prescense (sp) so strong; as if he came to tell me all would be ok...that he never left. Beautiful thoughts penned here, my friend! I love this!
Thank you for sharing and I wish you all the best in the contest!
