While I was gone
You did so much for me
I was a drug addict
And you stuck by me, my family
I was in rehab
For four whole months
I was gone many times, it wasn't just once
I love you so much
Words can't describe
I feel I have so much luck
Because you kept me alive
Your love is amazing
Your loyalty doubly so
And I know that you'll never ever go
And from now on, I'll let my appreciation show
I'm sorry I let you down
By the needle and the pill
Why did this have to happen?
God gave us free will
Now looking back
I feel so bad
I let you down
My mother, brother, and dad
You're so amazing
You're the light in my life
And I find myself gazing
At the light in your eyes
How could you be
So loving to me?
After all that I did
To hurt you so badly
And I know that sadly
I continue to hurt you
Everyday
With everything I say
Everything I do
I know I hurt you
But you just keep on loving
It's so becoming
Of you to do this for me
You're everything to me

So sad that you ever felt the need to substitute love for a high, ironic I guess that the high led you right back to the love of your family. well written and hope you stay on a drug free path.
-

This is alright, but in all honesty it isn't great. You tried to rhyme but you rhyme everything and not all of your rhymes were straight rhymes.
Good try with this.
Good luck in the contest.

i like the moving on tone and the feeling of finally seeing you and what you really did and what you caused because of the drugs..
however, you didnt follow my rules & I will have to DQ this write-feel free to enter it again following the rules or another piece following the rules

Very good write. Im sorry you had to experience this.
-
lovely, to write this in honor of your family for their support sias you don't take them for granted
growing up is hard, but when we learn from our mistakes, as we go along and change what we don't like about ourselves, that is beautiful. Good for you, be proud!
blessings to you,
Michelle
