Dad

I remember when I was young I used to sit upon your knee,
pretending the world was empty it was only you and me,
watching Dukes of Hazards we would both end up asleep,
these are special memories dad that I will forever keep.

Then I was a teenager and fell in a really bad crowd,
tried your best to straighten me up and boy did things get loud,
I thought you were the worse dad and you were only being mean,
never thought it had to do with me being an uncontrollable teen.

At an early age I got pregnat and even though you knew I had lied,
you wouldn't let me feel this was a mistake even though so many others had tried,
and when the time came for me to give birth to my daughter,
besides the surgeon and the nurses the only one there was my father.

Thank you dad for everything and when you need me I`ll be there,
never think for even a moment that I do not appreciate your care,
I know that when we talk sometimes I rush to get off the line,
but I thank God for every chance that I get to say your mine.
