The Darkness of night fell upon me
Like rain when caught in a summer storm
An empty road, with what appears, no ending
I find myself here from time to time
I look up and the stars tell me the truth
That there is a God, he is watching me
But the rain washes away my sanity
And I hear Satan's laugh echo from behind
My eyes sealed tightly, every muscle tensed
Trying to fade away all sound but the voice of God
The laugh fades and I gaze up to see his hand
Tears of hope glisten in the eyes of a young woman
Like rain when caught in a summer storm
An empty road, with what appears, no ending
I find myself here from time to time
I look up and the stars tell me the truth
That there is a God, he is watching me
But the rain washes away my sanity
And I hear Satan's laugh echo from behind
My eyes sealed tightly, every muscle tensed
Trying to fade away all sound but the voice of God
The laugh fades and I gaze up to see his hand
Tears of hope glisten in the eyes of a young woman
Author notes
I did use the picture as inspiration...
The clouds surrounding his hand just made me think of a rainy day... dark like there is no hope.. but then God's hand suddenly pokes out of the dark and dreary clouds.. to give you hope.. and help you. To remind you that he really is there. You are safe... just take his hand.. and walk through life.

Wow! This is awesome. I never would have seen the same as you did in the picture. A great understanding comes to the reader as to how you could envision this aspect of the picture. I am glad I read this. It lets us all know that God is there, no matter where it is. He will always be there for us if we only reach out to Him. God Bless. Your friend in Poetry, Mysty Rain

excellent~
I think you did very well using the picture as inspiration...you talk about the darkness of night and the rain washing away your insanity and hearing Satan's laugh...but all you want is the beauty and love of God....
Best of luck in the contest....
And nice to meet you as well
Do hope you come visit me and read some of my poems as well
Hugs
Susan~~~

BEAUTIFUL!
Our salvation can come to us in many different ways, the stars at night, or just the thought or memory of a person who owns our heart reaching out to us to bring us back.

Very visual. I didn't look at the picture but I could see this in my mind's eye. Good luck in the contest.
