You never know

Missing image
You never know
what is your greatest fear
till it becomes reality, instead of a nightmare.

One second the world made sense,
then it turned into unspeakable horror.
Heart so streaks with panic, flaming insanity,
thinking back to when the mind did thus ponder
what resided beyond the sky and amid the star's twinkle.

Scoffing at the musing ramblings of panicked witnesses
over those silly silvery disks skipping across the clouds.

Much too busy punching the clock
for contemplating if they are hoax or truth.

Till one late winter's eve
cruising down the country road on the way home from a party,
scared beyond reason
when a glowing saucer descended and stalled the car.

Now imprisoned inside a tube,
the brain agonizes over a day than will never end,
petrified and no chance to escape,
waiting in mortal terror like some caged victim,
just to find out if alien's have a conscience or compassion,
while you simmer in visions as to whether you are going to be
some pet,  an experiment leading to blood curdling screams
or simply an amusing souvenir added to their macabre collection.

Great write, William! I really like how you describe the ordinariness of the victim's life before their "abduction" and her thoughts once inside the tube.
Congratulations on your gold trophy! ) Gaylene won silver and I won bronze!) Yay for us!
