Back to School

New little thoughts,

a hundred smiles

on known and

unknown faces…

swinging through

doors to rooms,

walls that trap

me and you…

Dazzling time

drowning in a tear drop,

melancholy slaps us…

throwing hugs

to me, flying kisses

for our last year,

a last day

now inside a cloud -

Graduated!

Author notes

Ok. This poem is about first day of school in the last year of school. I know what it feels like.

ah school it has been a long time since i graced the school's halls, a good piece here that shows an end of an era.

    This free verse poem

has accessibility. This is the first rule many do not follow. You have a delightful metaphor that is well modulated and therefore able to change enough to make this poem excellent. Ron.
