Hope

Her hair carried by the current
Her tail is flowing fast
She's passing through her sunken ships
She's twirling 'round their masts

She spreads her webbed blue fingers
To let the water cool them off
Riding the current to the surface
She finds her glowing coral loft

Passing by her haven
She continues on her route
Expecting only peace
She is startled in pursuit

Frantically she races
Her blood rushing in her veins
She finds her only shelter
In Atlantis's remains

Skimming through the remnants
Painfull memories arise
She remebers how she screamed
When the water began to rise

As her people adapted
They grew fins and gills
And as their tails got stronger
Along with it came their wills

"We will win this fight" they shouted
"Atlantis will rise once more
One day our sweet mer people
Will walk again it's glorious shores"

And as she realizes
That her attacker was long gone
She ventures out and back to home
And rests, awaiting dawn

For when the sun will glimmer
Over the suface of her world
Hope for her life underwater
Hope for Atlantis will unfurl

and a very beautiful creature she be too. many a dream of mermaids has woken me with a start, thinking I'd lost the plot. This piece, takes you on a trip of a world we rarely see fully, our minds wondering exactly what we are missing, so therefore, my mind has been woken to think again, thank you.
