Phrases of Poetry

They say let sleeping poets lie,
Or was that ourangutans..
Either way, i shall defy,
The laws of this strange land.

Fools rush in where poets fear to tread,
Thought they'd just go and get a pen,
Write the thoughts in ink or lead,
Rhyming now and then.

A word on the page is worth two in the mind,
They love to be freed,
Into a world of artistic design,
Where everyone loves to read.

You can't rhyme before you can write,
Or can you? i get confused,
It could be the other way round, you know it just might,
Or maybe it was something more rude...

The whole nine poets,
Got together for a spree,
Ended up writing jargon,
Quite a bit like me.

An ink for a page, a mind for a thought,
Another old saying i've heard,
This type of knowledge just cannot be taught,
Why my friend, 'tis simply absurd!

Author notes

Hmm... not quite sure how that started.. or where it ended... there might be some sense in there somewhere... there might not.. either way, you've read it, you can't unread it. Tune in next time for more POETS IN MIND!

This was amazing. It reminded me of your other poem : "Phrases of Life". This was more amazing. I hope you did well in the contest.

ROTFLOL... this is good, this is humourous. I may not have digested the poem properly, but the rhyme and rhythm of it is certainly catchy. This reminds me of a Master's work... like William Wordsworth's.

Anyway, goody lucky in the contest. I am too, and I am glad to have such a worthy opponent.

aha, now this has made me sit up and think, awakened for a more digestable review of what lies behind the words. The line 'Fools rush in where poets fear to tread' made me laugh, a personal chuckle if you knew me as some do would explain why. made me laugh anyway, and you can't laugh sleeping, so well done. Thank you.
