I want to go back to
Grandpa's arms and Grandma's pies.
Their little black dog
And it's pretty marble eyes.
I want to go back to
That town that I used to know
Were the water is wine
And the largest sunflowers grow.
Take my hand to make it feel just right
While we sit on the lawn stargazing at night.
I want to go back to
The places that I've always loved.
Where houses have picket fences
And the clouds roll by up above.
I want to go back to
Stargazing all night under the stars,
People's old Chevy trucks,
And playing out in smoke filled bars.
But most of all I want you to know,
I want to take your hand to make it feel just right
When I show you the places that make me feel alright.
They're places I knew when I was a kid.
The places where everyone knew what you did.
If there's one thing I can't let go
That it's where I grew up that I want to grow old.
Author notes
This one was inspired by Option #6.
It's more about the towns that I spent very happy times as a kid with my Grandparent's, uncle, and other family member. They were good times and places that I'll never forget.

Amazing poem you have here..the longing, missing where you grew up where everything is familiar, sight, smells, places..absolutely "hits home" I grew up in Kentucky and now live in Arizona..and I think about "home" everyday...Well done, you really pulled the emotion out here..COngrats and well-deserved Gold!

I dream of going back home to the place I grow up, the place I once knew, the place I remember in my thoughts. This gave some really nice imagery. Kep it up. You managed to make me more homesick then I already am.
