Desire to see

Eyes like a poem
Singing, teaching, pleading
“Come, let me show
What it is I see”

Others glance
What an intriguing catch

Worlds gone wrong
Loves true spite
Demons trading places
Earth born anew
Old walls peeling
Consider the fall
Paint to hide
The broken crying halleluiah

If only they would look
Take the time
To read this book
What hopes they would awake

A desire to see
The comical tragedy

They could share
In the beauty living there
Look just right
To see
Eyes like a poem
A mirror even
A feeling that
It can be given
A gift of sight

Merely an inkling
Of the glory
To him
The secret fire

Give me
Eyes like a poem

This is a really powerful piece of poetry that combined with its easy appearance gives the reader something to think about and an urge to delve deeper within the poem. Well crafted. Many thanks for entering my contest and good luck.

    Amazing....Simply amazing...

You always seem to amaze me with your words and the this is no exception. The lines "A desire to see
The comical tragedy" hit me the strongest of all the lines as this is how I used to view life, as a comical tragedy, until someone came along and showed me different, that it doesn't have to be a tragedy.

Thanks for this beautiful work and best of luck in the future....

    With love,
    ~ Levi

A spectacular poem, filled with pure feelings. I love the third section, especially "Paint to hide / The broken crying halleluiah."
The last two lines are also most beautiful, and I feel they are almost childlike in the humble way they ask for such great eyes.

Thanks ever so much for entering.
