Dark

It was a dark and gloomy night.
The moon was shining;
A man came creeping down the stairs to answer the door
But nobody answered.
He went back up stairs,
Got back in bed.
He heard it a second time this time around.
The dogs were barking –
He told the dogs to shut up and they did.
The wind started to blow;
A person started to whisper
And say “don’t go downstairs.”
So he didn’t go downstairs…
For the rest of his life.

    Oh.... how cool! For the rest of his life? That leaves a lot to the imagination. Well done! I had to read this again.

    Oh my! This is great! All kinds of things ran through my mind. He never went downstairs; ever? Talk about paranoia.
