As the deadline date has come at last
And time for waiting now has past
We're packing and preparing
For our go.
Each face I remember
Like we have had times, of laughter
And of tender moments with some of you
I know.
I will miss you, you're a part
Of the beat that keeps the heart
A part of the life I've learned to know
And I love you so.
Little nieces,and young friends
New acquaintances and the trends
Of humour, hurting ones sharing
And ones' hearts deeply caring
I hate to say goodbye,even tho
A little while, I have told you it so
Not regretting the reason, a wedding
And a time of dreading
Hoping lives of my parents can live on
But knowing there is a setting sun
For those we hold dear,
Ever want them near
So all I can say to you,its' just awhile
And that is true,I'll be back with a smile
Hoping all is well, and happiness remains
Just the same
I love you all, in my prayers and thoughts!

This poem is joyful yet sad. A time of parting is at hand but a happy reunion awaits! I like the structure and most of the rhyming is strong but that is secondary to your thoughtful message. The picture is lovely and compliments your words. Very nice package!

I admire this piece for its imagery and texture of words. It takes a lot of imagination and meditation to write a good poem, and I believe you have accomplished that.
My emotional response is very empathetic. With each line, my emotions tune into what you are saying... which is good.
You wanted my honest opinion, and there you have it... I really prefer not to give criticism, because I would feel like a hypocrite. I am also a poet, just like you, and would not want my work to be criticized.
