Trees are steadfast soldiers
standing their ground,
branches lifted bravely
holding the sky in place.
Every time a tree is cut down
the heavens give a little sigh
and shift, adjust and try
to keep a smile on her fine face.
Winter's branches, bare
or summer's leafy greens...
there's nothing to compare
with lovely tree-filled scenes.

Nice! I like the image of trees as soldiers; "branches lifted bravely / holding the sky in place" was great. The second verse was my favorite, though... you kind of blew my mind with that idea.
