Passing Love ~ in Memory of Roy Hugh Kyle

An hour never passes,
              but I think of you.
An hour never passes,
              but I miss you too.
Everyday that's dawning,
              til the moonlight glows.
You're beside me darling,
              where ever I go.
An hour never passes,
              a clock never chimes.
but I keep remembering those,
              old happy times.
Without your love,
              an hour never passes.

I love you Darling, give Dixie a kiss
I'll be home to my girls as soon as I can

Roy

Although this is written from beyond
My Grandfather will live on through my bond.
My love for him will never die
If anything it will make angels cry.
Reaching for the heavens above.
Carrying my love thereof.

Author notes

Parts of this is my grandfather's last letter received by my Grandmother. My Grandmother passed not that long ago, The upper part of this poem was written by my grandfather while at war, shortly before being lost at sea on the U.S.S. Morrison. My Grandfather was killed by a kamikaze pilot who struck the side of the ship. (This attack can be verified on the internet by looking up the ship) He was 22 years old. He left surviving His wife Mary and Daughter Dixie. She was only 2 at the time. She has only a few trinkets of items he left for her~ some has been lost through the years. This is my only way to memorialize him. I honestly think this is how every military personel feel ~ while away from his family.

I wonder what it's like for folks to meet again in the great beyond; if your grandmother and grandfather had a reunion as people once bound in marriage or simply as two souls looking toward the next great adventure.
In Hebrews 12:1 in the New Testament we are told we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses wishing us the best as we finish the course set for us here below. I read this and imagine your grandfather having finished his race cheering your grandmother on through her life and greeting her in joyous celebration at the finish line.
Roy Hugh could not have known when he wrote this that his girls would be coming home to him instead of the other way around. God bless us all with love now and with love to look forward to in the age to come.

    • I really don't know why I feel such a internal bond to a man I've never met. Maybe cause people have told me all throughout my life how much I'm like him.

Now, my grandmother and grandfather have been joined together in the after-life. ~

~ you've always find a way to touch me from the inside. ~ Thank you from the core of my heart for your very kind words. This poem is deeply personal for me. ~ Thank you!

This is such a heartwrnching poem and story. It must be one of the hardest things in life, to realize that at any moment a life might end. Our servicemen have to deal with that on a daily basis, it's in the back of their minds.

Your grandfather is a hero and youve done him a great justice with this superb piece. I bet he's looking over your shoulder

    Thank you for entering

Wow Sis Im Sorry. Pain of losing a love one is hard on anyone. We just have to remember the good times that was spent together. Mot dwelling on their deaths. I am deeply sorry for ur lost and for the fact this turned out to be a small lecture lol.
