The Jesus Train

THE JESUS TRAIN

Come one and all down to the station
Let's ride the Jesus train
All aboard to travel the nation
Where ever God shall reign

The Jesus train rolls on down the track
stopping along the way
Once aboard there is no turning back
so brother start to pray

A one way ticket to Paradise
Gabriel blows the horn
God teaches you about sacrifice
Come ride and be reborn

Praises to God, heard in the distance
Over the mountains high
Travels the path of least resistance
Journey into the sky

Way beyond the stars in heaven's glow
The train rises above
Dearly departed, here the whistle blow
For the Jesus train of love

To get a ticket you must be good,
Love God with all your heart.
Know right from wrong, do what you should,
The righteous shall depart.

Wonderful poem! Reminds me of the old song. I like the "no turning back" idea of boarding a train, which is a very good metephor since we can not return salvation. Back to the old God doesn't make mistakes argument. Anyhow, I disagree with the last stanza (you knew I would)! No, we don't need to be good to get a ticket...nor love God with all your heart. No, to get a ticket takes faith. Even Christ said that no one is good... shoot, I'd never qulaifiy if it wern't for His justification. Again, thanks for sharing and making me think.

      Great Comment

Thank you Michael for stopping by and leaving a comment. I do appreciate it.Yes it does take faith and believing in God Almighty but I still think we need to live by his commandments and if we don't we need to ask forgiveness before we enter Heaven. You "may" be right. I'll let you know when I get to the gate. Take care my friend. Sandy

    high climbing goals

i like the heart, painted by you
bold on the sky, ideals true blue
conveying so much, colors you show
brush out a future, paths we must go
true to your self, beliefs never vary
depth of feeling, load that you carry
hold your head high, road you choose
rarely goes downhill, or sings the blues

Sandy, this is really good! I love the idea of us being on a train, they are so strong and powerful... just like the kingdom of God is...

This is written really well... they flow is smooth and steady and makes this read easily. They rhymes are excellent and I like the scheme you used too.

It's always nice to read a poem with a good message. Indeed, He's about ready to collect us, I can't wait to leave this world! I'm so thankful that there's no works we have to do to have His love and salvation... because then we'd all fall short!

This is a wonderful piece... thank you for sharing it with us!!!

    God bless you...

    ~Melissa

    awwwww I love it

This reminds me of an old southern gospel song. The theme and wording is very nice. I like the rhyming scheme. This piece flows so well.

I love this stanza the best:

Praises to God, heard in the distance,
    over the mountains high.
Travels the path of least resistance,
    journey into the sky.

You also rhymed in my favorite way to rhyme

    abab

Well done! I am glad I read this one. ALL ABOARD!

    God bless you, Mark
