Ode to Spring ( Sonnet)

As a babe, tender bud of leaf appears,
my spirit delights at the sight of you.
To my ears floats sweet song of early morn,
voiced by dear little wing'd ones bathed in dew.

Sweet song of bird 'neath ceylon sapphire sky,
cock robin sounds for a true love to bring.
Such longing doth set a tear to my eye,
his little heart bursts with the joy of spring.

Jonquils rise, bid farewell cold Winter King,
as he gives his throne to the Queen of May
He tiptoes out with chill yet lingering
with grace she curtsies as he goes his way

Adieu, Winter King! Warm kiss doth she blow.
Though loved, King must leaveth when Queen doth show.

an absolutely stunning sonnet. I loved the visual of the Queen of May kissing Winter goodbye in parting. It has a very romantic tone to it and definitely sets the mood for May. Thank you for entering and best wishes in the ontest,

    reenie

I love sonnets and this is no exception. Great write but I do have one suggestion.
In the line 'voiced by dear little winged ones bathed in dew' the word 'winged' could be read by some anally retentive people as 'win-ged' so it might be better to write it as 'wing'd'.
Or maybe I am talking out of my retentive arse
You did a great job with the flow and the rhyming scheme and kept the metre perfect.
    Have the clap

    Here hear, sweet sonetteer,

All hail the bard of Carolina
words well written, none are fina
She speaketh of spring, writely so
If joy ye seek to her page go.

Very well written. Now I don't know if I want to be vampiric or frolic in the spring.
    Buddy
