Seven men
Of honor and glory
Stand in a field
Rifle at the ready
They stand there
To honor the dead
To honor the living
To honor their brothers
The men and women
Who protect this great nation
Who die for freedom and rights
All those who have and will die
These are for whom the
Rifle Squad Salute is for
These great men and women
Our service men and women
The sun rises that crisp morning
A ball of red symbolizing the blood spilt
For this great and free nation
The fog lifts to show it all
To tell the world of these great
Actions that take place
All over the world
Of the American military
So these men stand
At attention
Ready for the day
Ready to give their respects
A man walks in to the field
Faces the seven men
Not a word is said
As the sun raises
When the sun is risen
The man pulls out his sword
Raises his voice and gives the orders
And this is what he said
Attention
Aim
Fire
Boom, boom,
Boom, boom
Boom, boom
Boom
Aim
Fire
Boom, boom,
Boom, boom
Boom, boom
Boom
Aim
Fire
Boom, boom,
Boom, boom
Boom, boom
Boom
So the men and women
Are honored
On this early morning
For all the world to know

very nice i like the flow and the 21 gun salute is a true military salute, its an honor for any military person. your poem is very good and shows true understanding of the suffering that goes on in the few moments before the sun rises. such mediphores are few in the writings of today.

This seems all too real to me, This is a different perspective I liked how you included the Rifle Squad.

A real salute to ou fallen soul
May God take this fallen soul and holding him close Saying with Me your home and safe.

Very good. The only thing i see that could use changing is
"To tell the world of these great
Actions that take place
All over the world
Of the America military"
I'm not 100% sure, but i think "America military" should be "American military"
Not sure if it was a typo, or you meant it that way.
Other than that, very good job. A very moving piece of art you have written. Good read.

I have heard the 21 gun salutes before. My cousin died in the Gulf War. I attended his funeral at Arlington Cemetery. I love the fact that you acted out the salute at the end of your poem. Very vivid! Sad but nicely written.
