calling me by name,
as it falls softly in golden pools
through portals to the outside
left far too open to truly resist the call.
I sit in the patch of sunlight
which streams warmly through my bedroom window,
but it is not the same.
My pillows, once comfortable, now are too too soft,
holding me in a smothering embrace.
A light breeze steals through the gap,
cooling my skin, begging me to dance.
I give in, not unwillingly,
letting my legs carry me where they will.
Uncounted long strides have stretched out the kinks
Awareness dawns of a sunny mixture of scent,
honeysuckle tinged with rose.
My house is long out of sight now,
and there it will remain
‘till the sunlight stops calling,
calling me by name.

this one brought itself to a close before my thoughts were done, so I suppose this is part one of a few...

Your imagery is lovely...this has a dream-like quality to it...a tranquility. Long walks can be like that. Nice penning

This is good, not great, but good. I enjoyed this but I have had poems entered that I have enjoyed more. I am going to remove this, but it is still a nice poem. Hope you understand.

Wow! I love it. I read "Words of the Call" last night and liked it just as much as this. Again, I loved the imagery. It is hard to pick a favorite part in this poem as well. Keep up the good work.

Wow really lovely. Imagery was one hundred percent flawless. I feel so warm no as if I too were in the sun and it was calling me by name. You pulled me in with your words from the start and had me itching to read the next line. I was very sad to see the poem end because I was enjoying it so, but never the less it was a great write. You must be a great poet. And I am looking very forward to reading the rest of your thoughts on the matter if they're going to be as great as this poem (which I have no doubt in my mind they will be). Wonderful poem. Well done and thank you for sharing.

Never Stop Writing!
This is wonderful, " my pillows, once comfortable, now are too soft, holding me in a smothering embrace. A light breeze steals through the gap, cooling my skin, begging me to dance"
and the "letting my legs carry me where they will, Uncounted long strides have stretched out the kinks" those lines are so beautiful and I'm sure they came from deep within your heart.
I am not a fan of free verse, so for me to still be typing is amazing to me. Well done..
