To My Son

Missing image

I haven’t known you very long

what my heart feels can’t be wrong.

I’ve read the words you’ve written down

they’ve made me smile, they’ve made me frown.

You’ve soon become a part of me

you have a thirst to know, and see.

Many questions you will ask

to answer them will be my task.

You call me ‘Mum’ that’s how I feel,

the joy it brings I can’t conceal.

You are my ‘Son’ but not by birth,

our caring love brings so much mirth.

I’ll always be here should you need

a hand to hold, a voice to heed.

You read my words and say I’m wise,

but I have lived and these blue eyes

have seen a lifetime full of love,

and with the grace of God above

I’ll impart my thoughts to you

as you grow and live your lifetime through

This is beautiful. I feel the sincerity in every word. I know he appreciates the wonder in this work. Very sentimental and very beautiful. This is what I so love about Allpoetry. The kinships made are phenomenal! Beautiful! I know these feelings, as I have some wonderful AP children.

    Much Love ♥

this made me smile it seems Musimwa has found the perfect 'mum' i was his 'mum' for a short while but just couldn't do the title justice because of personal problems. i felt badly about that so it makes me smile to read a poem such as this for him... he deserves it
