Memories of Spain

We sought the shade of rocks
Panting like lizards in the heat.
The aromatic sharp scent of
Crushed wild thyme and sage adding lust
To our over-eager coupling.
Fir and pine on the mountainside
A sombre backdrop.
Home to the cool laving of a cold shower
We washed, carefully and sensuously.
Donning cool fresh linen
To find the shade of Alfonso`s bar.
The sharp taste of iced gin and tonic
Hit the backs of our throats
With sudden shock waves.
Little tapas of olives and anchovies
Fleshy chicken pieces in a
Delicious tangy sauce
Slaked our other appetite.
Washed down with a bottle of Rioca
Blood red from a hundred summer afternoon suns
Pouring into its fleshy grapes.
That night under a silver moon
And stars winking like jewels lying on velvet
We made love again.
Quietly this time
More love and tenderness than passion.
In the morning light
I watched your sweet face.
Gently breathing through slightly parted lips.
Dark hair tendrils curling against your white neck.
Lashes brushing cheeks.
Easing quietly from the bed
I stood at the open window
And watched a copper red sun rising
Heralding another day of heat and passion.

I'll be bluntly honest, since I know that it's what I want in the comments to my poetry. Truly, this one didn't seem to spark my fancy, it didn't really leave me with anything but an odd look on my face. I'm sorry but its true. This just isn't my kind of poem, I'm really sorry. Thanks for entering. God bless.
