A challenge laid upon my plate
By spirit from above
Accept a less than happy fate
And face it all with love
Inside a lovely angel there’s
A demon trapped inside
So clever I cannot see where
The little bugger hides
So I am to become her friend
As quickly as can be
Then play dumb so the demon then
Exposes all to me
When it has gotten cocky so
That it does not fear me
I’ll lure it out and make it go
The angel will be free
The demon knows I’m coming
And has laid low for a while
I simply keep on dumbing
With a sweet shit-eating smile
So, on the angel I will dote
E’en when the demon rears
I’ll smile at each offensive note
And let it box my ears
Then one day when it’s back is turned
It will let down its guard
I'll grab it, though my hand gets burned
And hold it fast and hard
I’ll look the demon in the eye
Then magically I’ll say
“The light's upon you demon, fly!”
Then it must go away.
Then choruses of angels sing
For all eternity
Of how I came to them bringing
Their cured sister with me
In a list
Please tell me what you think

I don't know why, but this doesn't quite feel right to me...it seems the only cure is death...and if death is by your hand...who is the real demon?... Just my own take on the words as written, only you can know what you intended as the author...This one has some sticky rough spots, but I don't have any suggestions for improvemnts at the moment...too caught up in the imagery I think...I like this one, but seems darker than the ending makes apparent. Peace, Rhonda

Not death, banishment. Demons don't belong in this world. I pull them out and send them back where they belong. The person is then demon free. Kind of like an exorcism.

Wisdom through the ages...That a man lay down his own life for his friend...A great way to look at it and the picture.I enjoyed the read although I think many don't really understand it by reading their comments.

Lay down his life for his friend? Not in my situation. We are all connected to the same spirit. It is where we came from and where we go to. Our individuality is great, but in the end, we are only parts of a bigger whole. It is that bigger whole I serve, not any individual. There are no strangers, only brothers and sisters I don't know yet. They all deserve my best, do they not?

Yes it is wisdom darling, is wise even beyond the comprehension of the composer himself. Eminence of deep thought in combat with deep thought. You have penned a fluidic expression of a mystic combat which has been present since man became cognizant of his own existence. The demon will disappear as demons always have under the pressure of the most powerful God given force in the universe: love. Well done and well done.
Love,
Amera

Yes. So when people say to me, but don't you see the demon? I say, "Yes. I do see it. Don't you see the angel?"

Not my sort of thing, the language you have used didn't draw me in. Your rhyming was clever though I thought rhyming "Eye" with "I" in the eighth stanza could do with a rethink.

I changed that rhyme at your suggestion. Thanks.

very interesting piece, and amusing as well...i enjoyed the rhyming scheme, though it got a little jumbled in the 7th stanza.
Overall i enjoyed this piece. thanks for posting! -

I cleaned that up at your suggestion. Thanks.

A Warrior's Trade
To fight the demon's seige, it is a warrior's trade. Not many others could ever know it's pain.
I've posted a song I wrote, called "Catalyst". You should read it. I think you'd... understand it.
