Big blue eyes

Big blue eyes, and a happy smile
and a heart of gold, although he was only four months old
How we miss him , how we cried when we had to say goodbye.

When I think of him ,All a glow
with chubby cheeks and that tiny nose.
the way he giggled the way he played.
On New years eve, He would be eight

Sometimes I see him at that age
riding bikes, playing ball,
collecting bugs to scare his mom

Now in this dream he is older
driving cars , dating girls
riding golf carts and tilt a whirls.

Not a boy ,but a man
then he takes his new wife's  hand
the music stops
they both stare at his aunt with gray hair.

the sun comes up the alarm clock rings
its hard to believe it was a dream.
As time goes by and I grow older,
I am glad that i had a chance to know him.

Author notes

To my little buckaroo
how I miss those eyes so blue
hugs and hugs you Lil crook
you stoled my heart with just one look

this piece was wrote for my nephew Leroy James  Mattison

Oh, I accidentally pushed the button and it submitted so sorry.....
I hadn't finished the comment yet!
This was so touching and real. I can't imagine what it must of felt and still feels like. Your poem is written so beautifully and freely, no forced anything! I loved it and it so moved my heart! I loved the bugs, to scare his Aunt part!
What a great poem you have penned in tribute to your Nephew! Thank you so much for sharing it!
I can so feel the emotion and the sincerity all the way through.
    Bravo!

Well honey, I'm so sorry for your loss. I had a stillborn that would have been 13 this past month and it is so hard, you never get over it. Luckily I have three other babies that help me focus on them. Thank you for sharing and entering the contest. Good luck.

It's never easy to lose someone, but I've always wondered if it was better to have actually gotten to know a child before they pass. You're always going to miss out on memories, that's a given, but there's something to hold on to when you're given the chance to bond. Great piece here, very well written.

Awwwww, he sounds like an adorable baby. It's always so sad when someone has to bury a child, and this poem almost had me in tears. I will definitely keep this little angel in my prayers; Well done.

    Blessings,

This one is truly beautiful too, I can relate to this one well. My daughter lost her son last year, though she was only about 5 months pregnant, it was horrible. I like your author notes too, little buckaro

heaven has a nursey full of angels charged with the care of the wee ones sent there far too soon, and they will be ibn your arms someday if you dance through life with the innocence of a babe.

    My sympathies for your loss.~~~Artis
