My dearest friend, I must tell you
of how you filled my heart with joy
on the day our paths converged.
You were my shining star.
Fallen - to walk awhile at my side.
You tore me from my misery,
cast off the shackles of my pain,
and held me like a child
when tears were all I had.
Because of you, I am still here
to let you know just how much
you have shaped my life.
From today I can see the years
laid bare at my feet,
and all the steps we took together.
Why didn't I see it coming?
Did I take you for granted,
assuming our paths, now entwined,
would never diverge?
No, I knew. I just refused to see.
And so, we came to our parting road...
How long did I continue on alone
before I realized you were gone?
Slipping away in silence,
you vanished as suddenly as you appeared.
I was left to wonder, and to regret.
Your demons came for you in the end,
and I was blind to your pain
your inner tormoil, as you led
me through my own Hell,
back into the light of day.
Ashamed, I cry out to you now.
Wherever you are, I cry your pardon.
You hid your pain so well,
and not once did I try to comfort you.
In my own misery, I remained selfish.
I am so sorry I never knew how to help you.
Forever will my heart ache for you...
My dearest friend.

powerful song...it's something else, sometimes, when you think you have all these problems and then someone mighty of heart comes along and helps you out...you don't wonder how he/she got so strong and how they deal with your problems...it's when your own problems have dissolved and your confidant is gone that you can see the reason why they helped you out so well was that the problems they had were much worse than yours and that was the reason they could handle yours so well...what we dont' see, i think, is that when someone with problems/demons help us they are finding solace from thier hell by "cooling their heels" in the lesser hell in which we reside...
great job... -
