Three Times Dead

and yet I breath....

Death from depression
a dreamer's disease
that muddles the mind
and weakens the knees
A type of dementia
that starts in the head
and kills long before
the victim is dead

Death from the boredom
the endless routine
that leaves a man restless
and hungry and mean
A type of starvation
that makes you grow old
and kills long before
the body is cold

Death from the conscience
a fatal embrace
that knifes in the back
then smiles to the face
A type of affliction
that torments the soul
and kills long before
the years take their toll

Ah, so so true this is. Depression is a horrible thing, I know its been eating me for the last five years and shows no sign of letting me out of its grip. Seems like it haunts alot of writers (poets or otherwise). Very nicely done. Thank you for entering my contest.

Very deep and so true. Depression is a hard way in life and feeds so deep it often leaves on feeling dead or wish so. I know this feeling all to well. You did an excellent job explaining the feelings and distruction of it to a soul.
    Thank you for entering.
    Love

My goodness. I feel like this was written about me. I am SUCH a dreamer! I fight the dreamer's death by holding the hope that someday, perhaps it will be possible, a dream may come true. Thank you so much for sharing this.

This is truely amazing. i love the flow of the poem and how each stanza relates, but still has their own strenght. Your work is brilliant.

    This is AMAZING

It just reminded me of something

Yesterday, I told everyone I was going to die three times

lol .. cuz I had my dutch exams ... (they're fatal) and I have three papers for it

So basically, you die, sleep for a while, awake, die again, sleep, awake, do other exams, die one more time, no sleep, and continue exams :D

    I hate dutch

    anyway .. this is excellent

    Keep it up :F
