Confidence

My cigarette is burning,
my boat is to sail and yearning.
Young has been my journey,
yet I have not left port.

Dawn arises quick;
birds already tweet before daylight.
And even though they do not after sunset,
they still fly and have no knowledge of my sleep.

The birds soar above the ocean,
my boat, they have no need to follow.
I have so much time,
but the tide is rushing in,
and I fear when I should dive into the water;
like waiting for the perfect beat,
to cross into jumprope.

My eyes cross the horizon,
not knowing if I may ever reach it.
Will the birds fly north, as I turn south?
Studders and hesitation flows from my mouth.

Please tell me what you think

    deep

    this piece reads light and airy, but the words have a deeper meaning, confidence is agood title for this piece. some great wording in this one

    and I fear when I should dive into the water;
    like waiting for the perfect beat,
    to cross into jumprope.

    And even though they do not after sunset,
    they still fly and have no knowledge of my sleep

    these two parts were superb and gave the piece a real strength, for me...peace
