Do our words provide for shelter?
Do our tears put food on plates?
When we read our Sunday Papers,
are we saying “It’s too late”
So many children know no difference.
They just accept that loved ones die.
It’s an every day occurrence.
They’re not even asking why.
So many tiny faces.
Never smiling, only tears.
So many hungry children.
So many live a life of fear.
How can we let so many suffer?
How can war and hate exist?
It destroys the poorest people.
The ones too ill to say “resist”
We should be their voice for freedom.
We should be their strength to stand.
When they say “no-one is listening”,
Show we are, and take their hand.
We must change our selfish thinking.
Stop this killing, stop this war.
Find a way to force the powers,
to solve the horrors in Darfur.

this is lovely...the piece is heartfelt as the message is very clear and truly straight from those apathetic hearts out there...we should give freedom a voice esp. for those less fortunate than us...God bless always!!!

Like your other piece: So sad, and beautiful. Perfect rhyming. Poor peoples... Cool take on the word. It's making me want to cry. I'm surprised you don't have more trophies or comments, but oh well, you know it's good, right? Thanks for your second entry in this humble contest!

Thanks for entering my contest! I can't applaud this poem again because I already have a few months ago, sorry.
My last comment is still there, and I only want to add that today, the sad truth of the words you've written is still breaking my heart.
And yeah, this one could be applied to so many places in the world.
Keep on writing!

Oh Lordy Lordy Lordy! I can't believe this write. You wrote this?! It's truly amazing. This...this is making me want to cry, and it's exactly what I want! Thank you, thank you so much for entering this. It's really sad. I check my contest every day and though I have a million views on the page, not many entries have come out of this. Thanks again for helping to make a difference.

Thank you for entering my contest.
I thought this to be quite provocative, which is a really good thing to me. I totally agree with your point here and I can only add that I hope people (and above all, the governments) will realize that war is just the wrong way to reach certain aims, especially when those people are affected who are not to blame at all.
I wish you good luck in my contest and eveything you do.
Keep on writing!

Touching stuff
I loved it. It is amazing how we get so busy and don't notice the suffering all around us. Yes I hate all the wars because it is usually the children who pay the most. God bless you, Mark..... congrats on the HM

I think you did a fine job in the writing of this.
The rhyme scheme is good and the rhymes are well matched. I think you've done an excellent job getting your message out in this piece.
It's not too long and not too short. Just the right length to keep a person's attention.
A fine contest piece!

You have put across a very powerful message in this write and I applaude you for doing something for this contest. I too had a look at the video and was so deeply touched by the plight of these people, but felt that I could never put into words how I felt. Well done on having your say my friend
