The Mirror Lied

How did you feel,
when the going got nowhere
when the heart refused to beat,
when the world refused to care
Did you see a new beginning
did you try to set yourself away
from every single ending
refusing to fall away

Did you see your reflection
in a way you never had
did you find that deception
creeping in your head
Did you see the fighting soldier
you thought that you would find
did you see your reflection
or did you gaze at mine

troubled yet self inflicted
harmed but hardly rancid
as the headache lingered on, you wanted
more than life requested
Did you see the old dessolve or unfold
did you cry when the rain refused to fall
is it wrong the way you looked at me
in the heat, and irony of it all

Did you see your reflection
in the way you never had
did you mind the self infliction
bleeding on your hands
did you see the dying mother
you supposed that you would find
did you see your true reflection
when the mirror lied

    very provocative thoughts

You take the reader on a roller coaster ride of emotion in this poem, as you force them to face many issues they really don't want to deal with.
I like the questioning that runs through the poem, and your imagery and flow is excellent.

Thank you for entering this contest, and good luck!
