A Guilty Death

When I heard he died today
Not knowing what to say
"I didn't even know him"
I shrug
The tears swelling
Are held back by my guilt
As I realize
That could have been me
Shot in the stomach
Slowly he would die
An "accident"
But the pillow wrapped around the gun
Tells the real story

Author notes

Hmm...well, this poem is about a kid that goes to my school that died on Saturday. We were informed that it was a suicide but apparently the police came in and said that it was an accident. I don't know. Anyways, this is a poem about him. He was 14.

hmm....very sad indeed. i remember feeling this way once. there was a guy in my grade (i'm a junior) that died in a car accident. i knew the guy and i liked him and we talked a few times...but when he died....it was like..it was just another day. and the guiltiest feeling washed over me and i felt so bad. wonderful piece. very short but it conveys a nice message.

Wow.. I'm sorry to hear it.
Very sad and unfortunate to go so young.
