We Can Choose

We are scared to say something
To our family and friends
About our decisions

We don't know what they'll say

Choose to be funny

Choose to be sad

Without fault you're funny

Without fault you're sad

Scared of all the criticism

That lingers in the air

Holding up a smile

Can ruin the great moment

A word a smile a laugh

Can ruin ones day

A word a smile a laugh

It can make you glad you did

We can choose

The road to take

Yellow bricks or bloody ground

Where we end up we won't know

I belive it's our choice

I belive we make the difference

Of how the life of ours turns out

I belive we choose

I believe we choose also and I think this poem reflects a wisdom beyond your years. We can't change many things that happen to us in life, but we can change how we react to them. Good luck in this contest.

Job well done Kaitlin. My favourites are the second and fourth stanzas. They worked well and the repitition simply fitted well here. I really think you did a great job and I wish you good luck. Powerful message too!!

    True!

I believe in choice also. It really annoys me when my friends act as if they have no choice in something. Like "their fate is sealed." We can always change, and even if we ARE influenced, the choice comes down to OUR decision.

I totally agree with you about when people think they can't change. Some people think the person you are born as is the person you will die as. I'm glad I understand that everything changes, and that not only can I change myself, but I can change those around me! I agree with your comments, and am impressed with Ballistic Massacres poem!
