She walked in,
full of distress
little to no rest
and a limp accompanied her walk
while slurs accompanied her talk
yet I was not ready to embark
on this conversation.
"Come here and sit down,
tell me your story.
You came to the right place
so there's no need to worry."
To calm her slightly
I grabbed her hand.
That's when she began.
"I should die".
"What? Why?"
"I should die because my
world is now black and white."
"I'm sorry but I don't quite
understand you."
"Right now you see a girl with colors
all over her clothes and face
but I am a discrace
that's trying to erase my life.
So I come to you as a Christian goes
to a chapel and I ask you, Save Me.
Just the way I bought these,
my jeans are blue
but my shirt is red
becasue my soul has bled through.
My eyes are grey
from doom and dismay
my writst is cut
because I fail what I lust
which is an escape."
"Why are you suffering?"
"Because I have been raped!
I've been raped and beaten,
treaten like I was nothing
as if I shouldn't exist
and if this is life
death must be a bliss.
Please, you hold my hand
as if you're my friend and
the sign says 'we help lives'
So help mine come to an end."
"No. We help people live."
"Well I can truly live
if my heart stops beating
before the beatings
stop my heart.
All these years
I've been brave you see
I never asked for help
But I beg you now, Save Me."

Totally Relate
I was in your shoes once, my exhusband beat me the whole 4 yrs I was married to him. As if that wasn't bad enough, I found out 2 1/2 yrs after the divorce that he had molested my daughter throughout the marraige. Twice he was indicted for 1st degree rape of a minor, twice it was dismissed. That's SD justice for ya. I can sense the pain in your poem, it seeps out of every written word...very powerful and well written poem. I commend you for your courage in speaking out about what you have been through...good for you for finding the strength! My prayers are with you.-monica

this was so great... you seem to write from your heart because the words flow smoothly as if you speak in rhyme. ....in simpler words...you rock

Oh My God.
This is wonderful. Well, I mean, it's terrible for anyone to have to got through that, but what I mean is that it's beautifully written. I am awed, and shaken. This poem has touched me, truly it has. Well done.
Thanks for entering and best of luck!
