Tiki Cat

Tiki cat sitting in the shade,
Shadows of birds fly to the ground,
Groundless reason to make a trade,
Trader of dreams Tiki will hound,
Hound dog through the picket fence,
Fencing claws Tiki proudly shows,
Show-off cat pricks that dog so dense,
Denser puffs up that canine nose,
Noisy purr of Tiki cat claim,
Claimant dog snarls at this display,
Displayed teeth is that pooch’s game,
Gamely Tiki just struts away.

    I do not now remember having seen this before! Deary, deary me! Parkinson's must have already been taking its toll back when this was posted. This is all so great, the poem and the comments. It is a terrific poem, and the picture is great. Thank you so much Susan! I'm sure if I had seen this before, I would have commented on it already.

    Once in a while I'll leave a fight.
    Dogs are afraid of my great might.
    This one was, I must say,
    so I just walked away...

    I haven't tried that yet, but for sure will ...

    Before you mentioned Ellis in your Author's Comments, Ellis' cat Tiki came right to mind. I've been wondering about Ellis...It seems so long since I've seen his name pop-up here at AP and I loved those rhymed comments left in poem-comments whether to my own or to others, always with some reference to Tiki-Cat.

    Sweet means of paying tribute to Ellis, and Tiki-Cat of course!
