The Last Chant of a Dying Poet

Fair Muse; convey upon me unwritten script,
Bestow verbalization to sensuality and sentiments
                I Entreat Thee!

Sanction my concluding words to become exquisite
Banish the demon that shall remain obscure
Entrust upon my withering mind the work of ages
                I implore Thee!

Make haste, Apollo shall soon descend upon us!
His colossal chariot of flame and illumination
Hauled by four magnificent stallions, manes of radiance,
As it races across the celestial region, bringing my demise
                I Beseech Thee!

Rage against this accursed evil, ban it from your sight
My expiration is soon to arrive; the divine spark is almost gone
The terminus has materialized, yet no words have come forth
Have you forsaken me? Damned me to the eternal abyss?
                I DAMN THEE!

Author notes

Option 5; Athazagoraphobia
Explanation for choice of fear: The Poet is fearful that the Muse has abondoned him/her. That his/her work has been forgotten, and that he/her has been forgotten; and that he/her is being ignored by the world.

hm for most poets that's often true- so I guess it's a realistic fear. Only a very few get attention.

Ah yes I chose this option or sub section for a reason. I am a bit afraid that when I pass on my writings and me as a person in general will be forgotten. Obviously we make ourselves well known, but when we die we can't keep ourself as such. With great poets out there we have a lot to compete against. I loved the honesty within this piece. Very nice.

Well-writ, with just the right amount of humour thrown in (considering the topic), well done, my dear pet!

    Love these lines:
"Rage against this accursed evil, ban it from your sight
My expiration is soon to arrive; the divine spark is almost gone"

I'm glad you've finally written something, and I'll be very happy when I see the day you write about what you truly wish, not just writer's block, haha.

    Much love.
