Now and Forever

Up and over yonder hill she waits,
Looking to the bright sky over water.
To the sea she ponders her thoughts,
And gives them all to the Ultimate.

Feelings long wished dead due to pain,
Resurface with the presence of old.
The lady looks beyond the sea and waits,
For the sound of his steps echo in the air.

Her hair is blown by the wind on the cliffs,
And she is shadowed by the standing stones.
Once again she feels his strong hands on her,
Her soul suddenly sighs with unexplained peace.

Secluded from the world they stand,
Lover’s embrace only in that time and land.
Spread apart through life’s turmoil and chaos,
They retreat in a place all their own.

Forever destined to be apart in life,
And at this thought the lady cries.
The man holds her close and comforts her,
Tells her they at least have this place.

As they stand together in Auildeern,
The sun begins to set and so does their time.
For the condition is “only in dreams.”
For sunsets in life begins their time and ends it there.

A farewell kiss isn’t enough for her,
A farewell hug isn’t enough for him.
But as they slowly fade there are words unsaid,
“I love you, now and forever.”
