Pride Goes Before the Fall
W. Peter Sanci May 5 / 2005
We all have heard of that Biblical quote from Proverbs
16: 16 – 18,
but do we truly understand it ?
Well it has always been one of my favorites.
Why I really can’t say, it just hit me as something so
Simple and yet so profound.
Man’s many sins don’t compare with the sin of pride
As it abounds !
And it is the root of all other sin ?
It was also the sin committed by Lucifer, ( Satan as he is sometimes called as well ) that had him kicked out
Out of heaven and he didn’ t win.
Remember he dared to challenge God. And so he and all
Of his followers were banned to eternal damnation in Hell for all eternity.
Then he was out to get God’s greatest creation, man,
He was not to have compatibility.
The next one to commit the sin of pride was our friend Eve.
Remember that Satan disguised himself as a snake and
He tricked her with a little something up his old sleeve.
Told Eve, that if she ate of the tree of good and evil you will be like God.
Well we all know what happens next, she cons poor old Adam into eating it as well, because Adam couldn’t tell
He was a fraud.
So now you know I hope, a liitle more about the sin of
Pride.
Which by the way is one of the Seven Deadly Sins.
Which is by the way another poem that I wrote.
And that my friends is what is meant by the Bible

Soulangel !
Hi ! And thanks for you're very kind remarks about my poem. You may have guessed I lean to the religious type of poem. There you can at least teach people something. I was a teacher for many years, before Parkinson's Disease has taken away everything I enjoyed doing. But at least I still have my brains and as long as I can type i can write poetry and tell people what I'm feeling !! Right!
