I Live By Your House

I live by your house
Across the street,
In the forgotten Ford Fiesta.
You don't know
How lucky you are
To live in fine shelter.
You might not think
Your house is perfect,
But to me it is.
I wish I could have
A house like yours.

Author notes

When I was at school, something inspired me to write this. I looked across the street to where the apartments are, and many Mexicans live there. One day I saw some young men pushing a broken-down, blue Ford Fiesta. I couldn't tell whether they were leaving or going, but I have watched the people across the street many times. I know they are poor. Then, my family got struck many times with tragedy. My dad's boss died, and when his son took over, he promoted the younger workers, and degraded the older. My dad was one of the older ones, so we started to have some strain with his smaller paycheck. He then went to college and got a new job as a financial assistant, but we realized after a while that this pay was even smaller than the degraded pay. We have been trying to sell our house for two years with no success, and are making adjustments. It also didn't help that one of my brothers got appendicitis, and then we had to pay for his operation. The tv will go (we can stil watch videos), my sister, my brother, and my music lessons will cease to exist, we aren't having hot lunch for the rest of the year, my sister and I won't be getting any more of our medicine (that's not to serious), and if we don't move out some time soon, my parents said we will probably have to live in an appartment. My family is a family of six. I am starting to realize we are becoming more and more like the Mexicans across the street with the blue broken-down Ford Fiesta.

Hey!! I like this...I do not know but this is one kind of a poem u read and say so wisely written! There is some sweet innocence about this write that makes me like it !! It is raw and hence I love it! At times it happens when we do not have something and we get it..its heaven but for the same person who has it already will not be a big deal for him!! Clever write!

Thanks for entering and good luck!!
