Our Hands

His eyes pierce through my mind
As they stare across the room.
It’s my finals week,
But all I can concentrate on are his lips
And how they remind me
Of spring lilies breaking free of winter’s chill.

His eyes find mine;
At last I can see deep into his soul,
At last he can see deep within mine.
He smiles and his lips read,
“I see you, too. Smile for me beautiful.”
And without hesitation I do.
I smile and I flush.
So badly I miss those lips,
Lips I wish I’d never had
Because right now, in these moments,
I can’t think of anything else I’ve ever wanted this bad.

He smiles and his lips read,
“I know what you’re thinking.”
With that his books close and he floats on by
As if to say follow me...follow me...
And without hesitation I do.
One kiss is all I want;
Who am I kidding?
One kiss and I’ll want so much more.

All the while he knows.

Around the corner he waits,
And as I race by to find his footsteps
He catches my hand.
With a playful tug he pulls me close;
His soft warm breath sparking a fire,
Kindling a desire.
One kiss...one kiss...
I finally get my initial wish,
Nothing more.
But he knows,
I know,
I want more.

Take me back to our wilderness,
Where we first shared a kiss;
Where we first shared each other.
Take me there again and again.
Show me what love really is
As your every touch breaks my stubborn tame.
